A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident
Two more people are now in custody related to a theft at Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, as stated by police.
A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.
The arrests come after a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.
A toddler aged three was one of the injured in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and were later released.
Police detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.
Authorities were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of individuals injured by an irritating chemical believed to be pepper spray.
The assault - an event that authorities stated was isolated and not considered an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
